Extensions and regeneration of a building in a Conservation Area
Planning approval obtained (2026)
This project revitalises a previously converted cattle barn set within a Conservation Area, enhancing both its functionality and its connection to family life. The brief centred on creating a generous, light‑filled kitchen and dining space at the heart of the home, supported by new study and utility areas to improve day‑to‑day living.
A new main entrance has been introduced along the side elevation, marked by a covered porch that provides a clearer sense of arrival and strengthens the building’s overall flow.
To the rear, a combination of two‑storey and single‑storey extensions has been designed to sit comfortably within the character of the original barn. These additions are deliberately sympathetic in scale and form, ensuring the historic structure remains the focal point. A new dormer window echoes the existing architectural language, while the design cleverly incorporates an existing garden wall to blend old and new elements seamlessly.
The first‑floor extension accommodates a much‑needed master suite, offering elevated views across the garden and the surrounding landscape — a calm retreat within the home.
